Connect the microphone to the left channel sound card line input. If you are to perform a 2-channel measurement, connect microphone channel 2 to the right input.
If you have a multimedia microphone, it can be used for testing purposes and for comparison measurements not acquiring a flat frequency response. The frequency range is probably also limited. Such a microphone must usually be connected to the microphone input of the sound card, since it will provide the phantom power supply voltage needed.
For more information about microphones and for purchasing our low-cost or high quality microphones for performing loudspeaker frequency response measurements and amateur room acoustics measurements please visit our homepage or e-mail us.
For high-quality measurements we recommend dedicated microphones that usually need phantom power supply or a microphone amplifier.
